Dr. Kenneth Owler Smith Memorial Scholarship 1999 Winners

The two scholarship winners for the 1999-2000 school year were Michael S. Carter and Carla M. Smith.

Michael is from Los Alamitos, California and is maintaining a 3.67 grade point average.  He is an Assistant Editorial Director and columnist for the Daily Trojan.  He has researched and written the histories of both the Daily Trojan newspaper and El Rodeo yearbook.  He has served as Vice Chairman of the USC College Republicans in 1998-1999.  He is a 1999 initiate of the Skull and Dagger Society.  He plans on obtaining his Ph.D. in History at USC.

Carla is from British Columbia, Canada and is maintaining a 3.65 grade point average.  She is a Trustee Scholar and has been selected as an Orientation Advisor for 1999.  She is very active in the School of Architecture student government and is currently serving as secretary of Helenes.  She was a member of the women's lacrosse team and the USC's women's rowing team.
